Sagay Trip: A memorable day

We were so excited to have our field trip in Sagay. Even though it was just days before the trip, our batchmates were already talking about what will happen in the trip or what will they bring, etc. Days past and yes, August 19, 2010, Thursday, the day of our trip. We were required to wake up early in the morning to fix ourselves and go to school. We must be at school about 6:00 am. We rode buses. We departed from the school about 6:30 and went to Sagay. We arrived at 8:30 at the Government Center of Sagay. We met our tour guides Ate Rhylene Mae and Ate Faith. They toured us around the Government Center. We were given the opportunity to go inside their Session Hall. This is where the city mayor and other politicians meet. This place was awesome. Some of our batchmates sat on the chairs and pretended to be like politicians. We were supposed to have a courtesy call with the mayor but he was not available that time so the city administrator was the one whom we interviewed inside the hall. We thanked  him because we learned a lot about Sagay.
After visiting the Government Center, we went to Material Recovery Facility or MRF. This is where we were taught on how to recycle waste materials such as straw, plastics, etc. We observed on how to make a mat made of straw. The finished products showed the hardworking of the workers. It is very important for us citizens to recycle such materials so that we could save.

After MRF, we then went to the School of the Future. When we arrived their we were welcomed by another pair of tour guides, Mrs. Genevero and Sir Santilla. The boys and girls were separated so that it would be easier for the them to tour us around. When we passed through the classrooms, we were surprised because each classroom has its own water dispenser for the pupils. We were also amazed when we passed by a multi-media room. It has sets of computers and guess what...the pupils that were using that time were only in first grade! These pupils are very lucky that they were given this kind of education. The students here are well educated.

After visiting the School of the Future, we went to Museo Sang Bata sa Negros. We had our tour there. We  saw exhibits of different arts and cultures of the Filipinos, mini aquariums with different species of marine animals, toy collections, and we were also given the chance to go to a mini pool where different mariie animals are. We were able to touch sea cucumbers. But we were not allowed to touch some of the sea anemones because they contain poison.

We then went to Veloria's Squid Rings. We were supposed to know the process of making squid rinds but we were not on the timing, so we just bought squid rings. After Veloria's we then went to Balay Kauswagan. We ate our lunch in Balay Kauswagan. Some of our batchmates swam in the swimming pool, some just rested under the shade of the trees. We departed from this place about 2:50 pm. We then went to a nearby garden, we took pictures of the beautiful place.

Then, we went to Sagay Dairy Farm. We were taught on how to process fresh milk. After explaining the process, we were given a free sample of their finished products. The milk tastes very good. We thought that we were going to visit another place, but because of the time consumed we cannot. It was already quarter to 4 and we need to travel 2-3 hours to reach Bacolod City. We said thank you and goodbye to our lady tour guides. We travelled back to Bacolod. Some of us slept because of exhaustion. We arrived at our school about 6:10 in the evening. We said thank you to our bus drivers and also to our conductors.
August 19, 2010 may be tiring but we really learned a lot. The End.
